Fundamentally Fun
I don't know about others but I enjoy the garden for so many reasons, tomatoes, peppers, enjoying the fruits of my labor, tasty and healthy food. But most of all, it's just fundamentally fun. I love playing in the dirt. It's just fun, period. Yeah, it's a lot of work at times. But it's also relaxing and rewarding. I can exercise my body and soul at the same time. I can take myself away from the real world for some quality with myself.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Nothing takes my mind off the worries of the day quite like working in the garden.

There has been many a day when work issues have taken their toll that I need to take a quiet walk through the garden and get reenergized for the next day. My wife knows that I need this time to let go of the tension of the day and waits till I come in, guessing how bad a day I had by how long I stay outside. What other endeavor could you possibly do to get this much satisfaction and be rewarded in so many ways?

It's almost as good as fishing.
