any downsides to eating too many tomatoes?
It was news to me that kale and other crucifers hyperaccumulate thallium! And it looks as though crucifers don't even need to be grown in contaminated soil or with tainted ferts to find Tl!
http://craftsmanship.net/the-vegetable-detective/ I really love kale, but I eat it in moderation and don't do smoothies, and I grow my own. Looking forward to the summer harvest (assuming my plants last long enough to produce something), I wonder if tomatoes hyperaccumulate anything? At the peak of the season, I do tend to go a bit overboard with tomato consumption. |

Cooked kale I believe does not affect the thyroid. Eat up.

Leafy greens and root vegetables, you're eating the parts where metals can accumulate. Fruits are not usually the site where the accumulation takes place, afaik.
Just don't eat your tomato leaves. |

TThe only drawback I can think of is that the more tomatoes you eat, the less steak and shrimp you can put in the old tummy.
I know some folks are very prone to those acid sores that pop up, and some can't take all the acid because of stomach issues. I've never had those kinda problems, but the wife does and that means I kinda know what you're feeling. I guess I'm lucky, because I can eat them 24/7 and they just keep getting better and better.

The only problem I can see is all the bacon, bread and mayo that can go along with eating tomatoes in their natural habitat of a BLT.

How about joint pain ? Is tomatoes bad for those people suffering from joint pain?
I have heard that tomatoes, potatoes, .. deposit too much calcium ( or other minerals ?) in the joints causing pain. Not Sure . Gardeneer. |
