Too Wet For Onions
With it raining almost every day in May, you could see the constantly wet soil and storms were affecting the onions in a negative way. In a typical year, our onions grow to around a half pound - some smaller - some larger. Not this year. There are probably 4 more baskets of onions the same size as in the picture below.
There are good things about the small sized onions. They are convenient to cook with, and when you need an onion for 1 or 2 sandwiches - you can always use a fresh one. |

All my onions were smaller this year. They have good taste too.

Our onions have done ok but now that the tops are falling over and it is harvest time, rain almost every day. Seems like last year they could dry outside but not this year.

Worth, I do plan on making French Onion Soup and Dip.
Just about everything that we cook that is savory has onion in it. We like Asian, Cajun, and Mexican foods a lot. Onions are very common in those cuisines. |
