I'm growing Sungreen for the first time this year and finding the first few to be almost flavorless. Will that improve with later tomatoes or am I picking them too early or something else? The plant is a total beast -- huge with tons of tomatoes so I really want to like it.

Mine were not great, either, but I don't know if the problem was my rainy weather.
They are really hard to pick; the fruit hardly change color when ripe. I'm dropping Sun Green next year, and the only GWR cherry I'm going to grow will be Lucky Tiger and Green Tiger, of the Artisans. And it's a saladette, not a cherry, but my Esmerelda Golosina are just delicious. They are some of the sweetest fruit of the year. |

Thanks. I'll add Esmeralda to my 2016 wish list. It looks like it would take up less space than the green beast. Hopefully Sungreen will improve as the season progresses.

My Esmeralda plant is a monster.

This is one of the five (Sungreen x Lucky Tiger sister line)F1s I grew last year. I have several F2 plants from each of two of the lines out this year. The lines derived from this cross are a little earlier and have a more complex flavor than the Sungreen parent.

What's your take on the difference between your cross and Lucky Tiger?
