Personally I feel offended by her comment that my singing to my tomato plants is “pseudo-scientific”. I am sure that my lullabies have improved production of fruits measurably.

What were you singing and maybe I'll remember.

BTW, I'm Carolyn, not Dr. Carolyn now that I'm retired and have been since 1999. Dr. Carolyn is the tomato variety while Carolyn is the human.

If you think measuring soil temperature is over the top-- wait till I get the scale.

Thanks very much.......this info is exactly what I was looking for. With all the changes in temperatures by month that the world is experiencing.....don't think we can really just go by past year "dates" anymore.

In New Jersey, during April for example, we have been significantly BELOW average historical temps for 16 out of 20 days.....God only knows what May or June may do....so I'll feel better testing soil temps throughout the yard.
