I just ordered another roll of tulle. 54 wide by 40yrds. I5bucks Amazon.
I still have some from a couple years ago but need more. I just keep every new planting of kales and collards and salads covered. Can be connected for a wider bed with a stapler. The netting for mosquitoes for over sleeping beds work. I just drape that one over my onions and leeks. DIY sticky traps using yellow and red cups or plates with a layer of petroleum jelly. I use tangle foot i've had for years...lasts forever. Grow chives as a diversion tactic food source. Grow like weeds. I have a few patches i've just let go. Multiply quickly. I use the shade frames for keeping salads going all summer but most important to keep new seed from washing out during the heavy spring rain and hail. One is on a newly seeded basil bed right now. I'd be happy to save some chive seed as i have thousands. They grow fast. |

Well you could grow intermediate or mid-day, but I bet it would be hard to find a set of them. I never tried them? Whitewing (a white) and Candy (A yellow) are two I know of. I have to try them sometime, or keep in mind if I have a failure. Not dependant on day length. These can be grown anywhere.

But you can get onions north or south depending on when you plant the seeds. If grown where I live they would just start to bulb up later in the spring but i would still have to plant seeds in the fall. Worth |

http://parkseed.com/whitewing-hybrid...p/05196-PK-P1/ Or Bonnie Plants https://bonnieplants.com/product/candy-onion/ You are correct, although all they need is 12 hours of light. Day Neutral is another term to describe them. Here in our growing season, everyday has at least 12 hours of light. So they are great for starting late. Burpee sells sets of Candy. I would just end up with smaller onions.
Right now what I need is swamp and storm proof onions. I cant believe that one storm flattened and all of my onions. It was as close to sheets coming down I ever saw. I might try candy next year. Worth |
