Is Sungold Select II not stable?
I have waited forever to get any fruit to ripen. I have gotten a tomato here and there started the end of last month. But I have one plant that had very large fruit for a cherry tomato. I picked two on Sunday. They are 3 oz. each and just over 2 inches across. I will not be planting Sungold Select II again. I already picked up Sungold seeds locally last month at Whole Foods. The fun of Sungold is they were early variety for me with a fun flavor. SS II did not have an improved flavor and early it was not.
I would have loaded a pic but my computer thinks other wise now. |

Where did you get your seeds?
It has always grown stable for me. Also, the intent of the variety was to create an OP version of Sungold. This is the closest I've found in my various trials, but it is still does not capture the pure quality of flavor that Sungold has. Lee

I got the seeds from Totally Tomato. I order them at the beginning of the year. I started them March 21 and planted outside May 15. Sungold Select II looks to be a darker shade of orange color in general.

Yes, Sungold Select II is stable and has been since Reinhard Kraft in Germany released it, that is,unless someone somewhere has messed it .
Unless you've also grown some of the other Sungold OP's I think it would be hard for you to make comparisons Here's a good thread about the OP Sungolds http://www.tomatoville.com/showthrea...ngold+versions And in my post #2 in the above be sure to click on the link I gave which is REALLY IMPORTANT for anyone interested in the OP Sungolds. Hope that helps, Carolyn

My Sungold Select II were huge, bigger than saladettes, almost medium tomato size. Maybe it was the weather.
Sungold is too small for me. I wanted something orange with a bigger fruit in my cherry mix. Juane Flamme has that spot right now. Mine are about large cherry-sized and quite delicious. |
