What's up with actinovate

I went online to buy some, and it seems the prices for actinovate have increased significantly. Were they bought out by monsanto?

Natural Industries was acquired by Novozymes in December, 2012. In 2013 Novozymes and Monsanto entered into a partnership, called BioAg, that gave $300m to Novozymes and gave the marketing of Novozymes' products, including already existing products, to Monsanto. In this partnership Novozymes does research, development, and manufacturing, Monsanto does field testing and marketing.

I have tried actinovate for three seasons and it seems worthless for preventing foliar diseases in my garden. Save your mone!

I use Actinovate and it seems to help me with Late Blight prevention. It does not cure anything. It is a preventative only.

From what I have heard , Actinovate is just a treatment to prevent some kind of wilt.
There is no cure for foliage disease other than systematic fungal spraying. JMO

It is a beneficial microorganism, Streptomyces lydicus, that attaches itself to the leaves or roots of the plants and suppresses blight and mildew.

It does not cure anything if your plants are already infected. It is OMRI approved and I spray it weekly later in the summer when Late Blight appears in my area. I think that it helps.

Some people use it as a root drench. I don't use it that way myself.

Not only Monsanto BioAG but they passed on distribution of Actinovate last year to Valent BioSciences Corporation. More hands get a cut of the action.

I just priced it online. Price is about what I paid 3 years ago. There are also some alternatives now with same active ingredient pretty cheap.

What are the alternatives? I've been using actinovate since at least 2010. Just looked at my order history and the price HAS gone up. I paid the same this year as last year $26.09, but in 2010 I paid $15.96 and the price has increased each year.

That's the .7oz size. Most folks were buying the 2oz. package.

Best price I could find on the 2 oz was $19.95 at Johnny's Seeds. A little of that stuff goes a long way. The .7 is listed to treat 200 plants and the 2 oz up to 550 plants. I bought the 2 oz several years ago and I am still haven't used it all. I worry about it losing its efficacy. I was only using it on Tomatoes. This year I am putting it on everything just to use it up. Good luck on finding a good price.
