Just put out fall tomatoes!!!!
Thanks to Suze I put out 22 fall tomato plants and laid down new mulch.
The mulch is from a LOT of Elm trees and limbs I put trough the wood chipper. I checked out the drip system and I go to work tomorrow. I also put out some pepper plants I had in containers. Fly little birdies fly. Worth |

Me too! I took a vacation day and worked in the garden at various things from 8:30 AM till 6 PM (YES, my back is sore!). Planted some bush beans and squash, pulled some weeds, mulched -
but mainly went through my driveway tomatoes and pulled out about 60 or so plants, most of them the first planting of F2 and F3 dwarfs. I then planted most of my late summer/fall crop, so I now have another 50 or so grow bags or small pots out there. I will be putting updates in the R&D forum in the appropriate threads for the F3s. Now we need to can some tomatoes, as I stripped the plants of a load of fruit. That's tonight's task (Sue just finished canning a batch of bread and butter pickles with today's Diva picking).

Also got my fall plants in today, except for 5-6 late starts I'll put in next week. 60 plants total -- 24 indet, 36 dwarf.
Indet/semi-det (*more than one plant): *Cherokee Bi-Color F2 *SunPlum F5 (one PL) Green Doctors Sioux *JD's Special C-Tex *Blackfoot *Japanese Black Trifele Sweet Quartz *Marizol Korney *Liz Birt Gregori's Altai Ramapo F5 Bloody Butcher Homestead 24F Sungold is still in good to great shape, so I won't bother to pull that plant and replant a fresh one as I usually do. May plant Peruvian Bush and GMG PL next week, plants still small. Dwarf Project (F3 unless otherwise noted, multiple plants of all): Summertime Green RL4 Summertime Gold PL1 Summertime Gold PL2 Summertime Gold RL1 Summertime Gold RL2 Summertime Gold RL5 Grumpy RL1 Dopey F2 will plant Bashful F2 next week, plant is still small. Not bothering w/Sleezy-B RL6 again. Got enough of a look at it (and seeds) from the spring plants, and I don't care for the taste very much. Gives me more room for multiples of the others. Compact/dwarf: Orange Tree Extreme Bush I may try my new food dehydrator out tomorrow on some of the remaining pile of tomatoes in the dining room, might also freeze a few. |

I havent set mine out yet but I have seedlings of
Black Cherry JD's Special C-Tex Gregori's Altai Monomakh's Hat Flamme Azoychka Bush Early Girl some of the seedlings are a foot tall already but I really didnt want to put them out until mid to late August. Plus I have a Stupice in a raised bed that is close to 7 ft tall and has maybe 20 plus fruit on it, and a Gary O'Sena in an earthbox that is 5 ft but only has one fruit on it. |
