I'd replace Riesentraube with... Matt's Wild Cherry! The taste explodes and tickles your mouth!
P.S. Suze, no, haven't tried the hybrid Sweet Quartz... I thought Camp Joy was another name for one... Chadwick's Cherry? As for Riesentraube, I thought it was very productive but was just a mild, ho-hum taste. The plant broke the stake and when on the ground, invaded my pepper bed and paths, it was really huge and uncontrollable for me. Last edited by korney19; August 19, 2007 at 11:26 AM. |

Sungold, Black Cherry and Snow White are perennial have to have's.
Galina's is good but not the same tier. For Red's I've tried SunCherry which I like and Riesentraube which can be good. I tried Sugary and Catherine SImms and spit them out. Isis Candy was nothing to talk about as was the large Dr. Carolyn Pink (I've never been able to get the small better tasting fruit) and Pasture had blight issues the one time I grew it- I'll have to try it again. Green Grape did nothing for me. Dr. Carolyn is good but I like Snow White better. Sweet 100 and its kin have been excellent back when I grew Hybrids only. And for a larger cherry I grew and enjoyed Sweet Chelsea. Last winter I grew Korney's Cross and liked it. My plant for spring croaked due to being in the wrong spot, but I have one going for this winter. Also I like Sun Plum. MikeInCypress
