Yes my left elbow is a bit psychic too - funny about that!

Haven't planted the beans yet. Hope to soon. I did yellow wax beans in a basket last year and they did OK but cucumbers didn't - I think its to do with needing deep roots whereas peas and beans are closer to the surface roots. We picked for several weeks until the green ones came on. And it got too hot. I found the more we pick the more came so its a matter of using them regularly.

Do you want some melon seeds? I won't attempt them again. Heart of Gold, Small Shining Light, Sugarbaby.

We just had a massive storm and downpour of rain, light went out - the works. That should settle the cow poo.......

It's here now. Thanks. The power is still on, thank goodness. We've had 100.5mm of rain this month. We should have quite a bit in the gauge tomorrow morning with this downpour.

I don't mind. Didn't plan to work outside tomorrow anyway.

Oh, and no thanks to any seeds. I have more than I need and sowed more than I need to get rid of as many as possible. Big seedling swap coming up, I'm sure.

how about some minnesota midgets, grub? perfect pot sized melons with vines to only a metre...fruit the size of a large grapefruit...taste is sweet and delicate and rockmelon-y.

well...lemme see if i remember it in agonizing detail.

i planted out my planter's jumbo first thing in the spring.
two months later...i still couldn't get a bloom on it.
i grew impatient, not to mention angry...and bought some minnesota midget seeds.
they sprouted, grew, bloomed, set fruit and ripened...all before the planter's jumbo set its first fruit.
then the bloody rat got that one...so all i got all summer were from that wee little minnesota midget...hence...they're the only ones i'm growing this year.
