How are you going to provide 110VAC60 when your mains are 220VAC50?

Easy wire off one side of the leg and you have 110/120.
All mains for homes are 220/240.
I dont think the 50 HZ would make any difference.

As I understand it, it's not like getting 220 here, where you combine two 110 phases. 220 there comes over two wires. You'd have to use a transformer to knock it down to 110.

50/60 Hz probably won't make a difference, but it's a question that needs to be asked.

220 wire there is just like it is here.
I was just going to post on that.
We have 220 single phase where it comes in on two wires.
The reason they use it there is the house wire can be smaller.
You basically share the currant over two wires as we put the load on one.

220 single phase is 220 single phase no matter were you are at, put a meter from one hot to ground and you get 110VAC.
Here is a pictuer of a typical New Zealand wall outlet.

Put your meter on one of the slanted slots and one on the vertical slots and you get 110 VAC.
They have complected stuff in the US by adding yet another safety ground thus making new 220 outlets have 4 plugs instead of three.
If these wires are going to an old breaker panel the neutral and the ground will still be connected to the same buss.

If you look in your breaker panel they have it numbered all of the odd numbers are on one leg of 220 and all of the even numbers are on the other leg of 220.
You could connect one wire to breaker 1 another on breaker 16 and one on ground and you have 220.

Hi..I see everybody is on the ball... The same lights are available in 220v.... its just theres so many different lights I get lost ...I only know I have to replace the HPS and Mercury lights before I go bankrupt.....Having watched you know what this afternoon on tv....why not get a reasonably priced shipping service and all problems would surely be fixed....I do not like it as I am forced to buy from China on Ebay but thats how it is and there must be tens of millions like me....There you are ..(I hope thats not political)

I can't open the link. It claims that it's protecting against my DDOS attack (which is BS) and the title is in Chinese characters anyway.

Still, it's obviously an LED lamp in a screw-in bulb(?) format. These aren't made for maximum output. But I don't know much about LEDs, other than that the spectrum can be very narrow, so I'll let someone else respond.

I cannot find any max output CFL bulbs from China anywhere on Ebay...USA yes but not China....

I have posted a screencapture... If you look closely you will see the NZ$cost plus underneath is the shipping cost and that is fairly moderate to a lot of I have seen ...some can be 300% plus of the product value for shipping......

Anyway I would really like to know a good bulb that I can look up for price etc whether it be LED or CFL ...I have 9 x LED 5 foot tubes ..I must try them out sometime

schill93 - my plants were under the lights from about the second week of April, when they started germinating until the third week of May. We had extreme fluctuations in weather here in May - snow in the middle of the month followed by hot weather then by rain and cool temps into the beginning of June. I initially had them under the lights for 16 hours then cut back to 15. Next year I will most likely only start sowing seeds the second week of April.

These are just the lamps, though. The fixture(s) would be nearly as important. And somehow I get the feeling that these are for replacement of incandescents and there must be a more purpose-made product.

Maybe you should ask about your LED tubes. What you have may be all you need. Specifics?

CFLs are rated by "watt equivalent." I don't see that information in the pic above. I used to be able to buy 250 watt-equivalent CFLs, but now 150 watt-equivalent are the biggest I can find at the store. Even those are getting harder to find. It seems most people are happy with 100 watt-equivalent as the brightest bulb wanted in household fixtures. Those are plenty bright enough to grow seedlings, especially if you have several.

CR, if you look at the lamp base it says (upside down just for those down under) 1530 lumens at 5400K, a goodly color. Pricey, though.

Ron, I got to those sites through their(?) eBay listing, and it says that they ship worldwide. I wouldn't expect it to be free, but I bet shipping 6 would be about the same as shipping 1.

Mine are 23 Watt equal to 100 watt at 1600 lumens 65K.

Hi Thanks for all the good information thats appearing....I must contact that website and find out exactly what Free Shipping actually means...New Frog another similar site has all free shipping??? there is a tie in with ebay but Ebay is actually cheaper for the same items....

I am just cutting the fitting holes in my Chinese hats (18..)....Stainless steel cost me $5 for three hats plus of course my labour for cutting them out with a jigsaw and a milling table ....

I aim to put one of these on each plant?? maybe not with 7 bulbs but I have 4 bulb units also...I presume being able to change the Kelvin easily is a plus and they will surely pay for themselves in a month or two in power savings against my present HPS and Mercury costs...

They need polished and 1/2 cut so I can shape them... I was told to make sure I cut the fitting holes first then shape...
