No need to apologize because I think you can tell that most of us agree with what you are saying. Prescription drugs can do some good and they also can do a lot of harm. My daughter in law works for a group of pain management doctors. The drug reps are constantly providing the entire staff with catered breakfasts and lunches. I don't think they would do that if they did not think it influenced the prescription decisions.

It used to be merchandise that the drug reps used for marketing, but they changed the rules, and now they can only buy food.

Here's a marijuana story for you...
Back in the early nineties when I lived in Houston TX I worked a second job for a company called Pace Concerts, mainly in Houston at the Astrodome and Astro World. Sometimes we traveled out of town, and setup a concert for Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic at Southpark Meadows in Austin Tx. It was basically a cow pasture with an amphitheater in the middle of it... I worked there for 9 days and met a lot of great people including Willie, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Well 4th of July came and it was pouring down rain, the place was a mud pit... People were stacking the picnic tables on top of each other making huts to block the rain, it was a mess. I was on stage hooking up mike cords or something when Willie walked up to me and asked if I knew how "to roll". I said sure... He handed me a bag of weed and told me to roll em and throw them out into the crowd ( it had stopped raining). I followed his wishes and had quite a sizable crowd yelling and waving their arms trying to get my attention, my boss noticed this and came storming over and asked what the he!! I was doing? I said Willie told me to roll, so I'm rolling! He looked over at Willie, and Willie nodded his head and smiled! My boss turned around and walked away. True story! I got paid to roll joints for Willie! |

I was at one of those Willie July forth picnics.
I think it was 1986 or 85. It was at Manor Downs out in Manor just East of Austin. You couldn't find a joint to save your life but plenty of cocaine. Wasn't then and never have been into that stuff. It was my wife whose idea it was and a black friend of ,mine and some other gal we knew. Mark and I hauled in food water and booze on two long oak poles like African porters. People were looking and saying wow look at those guys we should have thought of that. Other people were saying who let the N word in. Mark took it all in stride he was a cool dude and didn't give a hoot kung foo style. The sun was hotter than hell and only one cloud ever even came close to passing buy it. We got there the night before to beat the rush and left early the next day to beat it out. There was a Drag Worm there too. Someone said who gave the Drag Worm a ticket. The Drag is Guadalupe street by UT. A Drag Worm is a homeless person that hangs out on the drag. If you wanted acid you would go to the drag one street off and ask a drag worm. He would take your money and be back with acid. Give him a hug a smoke and a tip and you now have acid. Been that way for years. Someone or the drag worm got hold of some acid and was messed up big time. He was going around picking through people hair like a monkey looking for lice. We gave him booze food and drink to help him along his way. I have been to these events before my wife hadn't. Broke her of the habit. As soon as we got home I took a shower and slept for lord knows how long. During the whole thing I was as straight as an arrow. It sucked. Not being sober but the event. My idea of hell is an outdoor concert. If I die and wake up in a hot field with Willie on stage I will know I went to hell. Worth . |

I was at the '75 one, where the event was a good 3 miles off the road, with a single gate. And the parking lot - a huge grass field - burned, taking out a few cars. The girl I was with wore high heels - not a smart choice...
Also at the '76 picnic. I was working as a roadie with the sound system, but not for that event. Managed to talk my way in backstage anyway. Good show, but my last outdoor concert until I moved to Austin.

LSU to begin search for contractors to grow med marijuana Posted: Feb 04, 2017 3:06 PM CST Updated: Feb 04, 2017 3:06 PM CST BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU will begin taking offers from contractors to produce marijuana for the state for medical purposes. The marijuana-growing operation is estimated to cost $10 million and will be paid for by the contractor. LSU professor Dr. Ted Gautheir tells WBRZ-TV there's been much interest from people in and out of state. He says he expects there will be about 10 finalists to choose from. The law calls for the marijuana to be grown indoors, the facility to be located off LSU's campus and for students not to be involved. When a contractor is selected, LSU will not release the facility's location, however it must be based in East Baton Rouge Parish. LSU expects to have a contractor hired by June. The first crop is expected to be ready by the end of 2017 |
