Dakota in the name caught my eye. Heck, I didn't know there were short season watermelons. Mine grow all over the place but never ripen by the end of the season. I thought you needed a high tunnel to grow them to ripeness in the upper midwest. Can't wait to try some next summer.

I'm having a hard time not looking. I love winter squash and would really like to grow some, but I don't have room for any until I pull my garlic, and then it's probably too late in the season. |

I look at this thread and see all the varieties Tormato is posting. Today, I finally took count of the tomato varieties that I sent in of at least ten bags of ten seeds or more. There were 46 varieties. That doesn't include the pepper seeds, the ten packs of sugar snap peas, or the ziplock bag of older tomato seeds. It took me a while to get all of those packaged to send in.
Yet, I see the long lists that Tormato puts up. I can't help but say, "Wow!" Keeping up with all those varieties of seeds...and finding a place to store them. |

I put these in the mail today as donations, minus the Bosky, which was my favorite tomato last year, but my least favorite this year. I thought it might have been the cold spring weather, but later it occurred to me that I might have crossed seed, so I will grow out a plant this coming summer to make sure the seed is ok before sharing any.

I'm a bit behind because of work. Just got home after midnight. I did bag up a moose poo pile of seed last weekend but need to label...
Wondering, being my first exchange, if the leek seed does not have variety would it be ok...the original giant bag label/package is not specific but is a great leek variety especially for us northern growers. (NY state) Had a good seed gathering last weekend for flower pollinators, but most of my tomatoes, fermented, while out for a week to dry in the barn, were collected by the field mice, (savages). If i can get these labeled, i'll just send in for 'extras', 'bonus', seeds. Or save the box for a later exchange in January/Feb. |
