Do you remember if it was a bush or vining flower? That would help narrow down what it could be a bit.
I never took a picture of them, but they grow in the front yard facing about 200 feet from the Bay in the front yard. They grew back each year which meant they were Perennial flowers, but I never removed the dirt to see if they were producing bud's. But some were orange and some was pink. The plants grew about 2 sometimes 3 feet. One summer maybe 14 years ago: my husband and I tried to time the closing of the flowers but it was different times of the day.

I just thank God my farming property is on higher ground with all historical flowers still growing strongly each year, which have different variety of flowers and grasses, "Safe" from the salt waters.

Hey Ella,

Yes I Pruden's Purple tomatoes, one of my favorites. I got my seeds of Pruden's Purple tomato seeds from Linda over at Tomato Growers Supply Company. She has a great selection of tomato varieties.

Thanks Lyn, It's been a productive gardening season for me, especially the tomatoes. Current day/night temps at the moment are 60's/40's range, but after this wednesday the night temps will start dipping into the upper 30's. How has your season been?

My season is well and truly over up here but you are still going strong! I am impressed with your Pruden's purple tomatoes especially and I will have to get some seed for next year.
Very nice pictures!

Thanks KarenO

My season is winding down, but it's been a very productive tomato growing year.

I'm looking forward to seeing your results with some of the crosses you made by the way. Very interesting!

Alfredo, sadly, my season wasn't so great this year. We had a very cool (for us) summer and didn't get much warm weather until early Sept. And there was a lot of fungal disease! Production was really affected, and I only got a few tomatoes off most plants and some didn't give me a single tomato. Now our day time temps are in the 80s and humidity is low, which is perfect, but the night temps are going down into the 40s and the taste of the few remaining tomatoes is pretty bland.

Last year I had 75 plants and harvested about 750 lbs of tomatoes, this year I had 225 plants and I'll be lucky if I get 400 lbs at best . But, there's always next year to look forward to! I've started my planning and seed shopping already .

Can you post picture of the cut of Pruden's Purple. Just how nice it looks from the inside. Curious.

Here you go Ella (I placed a quarter next to it so you can get an idea of its size):

This particular Pruden's Purple weighed 1lb 4oz (There's a photo of it on the scale in post #170).
