Everything looks really good Worth! I bet they're loving this rain!
How are your Kentucky Wonder beans doing? I planted the same variety Sunday morning.

The beans have all sprouted and I have slug bait out around them. My rattlesnake beans are coming up in the containers. Worth |

I have no idea it changes from year to year. Sometimes May sometimes June. With the forecast for a cooler spring I suspect June this year I hope. This is why I got a head start on the tomato plants so I could get as much fruit set as I could before the heat sets in. The rest of the stuff it wont be a problem. Worth |

Going on right now and as happy as a clam everything is doing great.
I planned it out and was waiting for a flood to see if all of the water did as I wanted it to.' This water will soak in the soil in no time, three plants are completely under water. If I hadn't of put the boards in all of that section would be down the hill. Worth |

The Basin Terracing is my idea of erosion control for the tomato plants.
If I would have tilled that soil would be lost. Worth |

WOW! that was some smart planning- I guess you have been flooded before. The weather this year has been brutal. Here in the PNW we have really been fortunate compared to the rest of the country.

I live on a hill and when it rains the water has to go somewhere. When it does rain I put my big hat on and walk around looking to see where the streams are on my land. This area had some old rotten plywood laid on it so when I moved it there was no plant growth there to hold back the soil. This also happens to be where all of the water from my drive is going. from there it levels out slows down and drops out the sediment before it heads off down another hill. right before the hill starts to slope steeply is where I planted the two apple trees to catch water in more basin terraces. Hundreds of gallons of water pass by this area every time it rains hard. With a simple cut at the other end of my drive I can make thousands of gallons come on to my place. Worth |

This is still water running after last night's rain and where I can divert it.
I had to divert it to keep it off of my place and know exactly where tbe high point is because I put it there by using two line levels and some survey stakes. Worth IMG_20160310_18891.jpg |

Cucumber Catastrophe!!
Yesterday I was looking for my new package of Boston picking cucumber seeds in my seed box.
The reason was the old sees I had were nit germinating or slow to germinate. I had planted these old seeds in containers and out in the soil. So what the heck I will just get some new seeds and start over. Now where are those darn seeds? Aw crap they are outside and were in the rain for the last two days. So I went out to get them and sure enough they were soaked and just starting to put out a tiny tail. I ended up planting the whole package many in containers and putting some out in the soil. While doing this I dug up a cucumber seed from the old pack that was sprouting. I am going to have cucumbers running out my ears. Which is fine because I wanted to make pickles out of little 2 inch cucumbers. You have to have a lot of plants to do this. Worth |
