Also looking forward to growing new kinds of cowpeas.

The common dry beans will get planted alongside my dry soup bean landrace. Perhaps some new varieties will do well enough here to be included in the landrace.

I generally don't grow snap beans, because the return on investment seems too small. But I'll give them a try again the year.

Thanks again!!!
The limas were a "mistake" I didn't realize until after the package was sealed. Baby Thorogreen, and maybe a few others could have a chance in your climate.

I just picked up Robin Hood (fava), Premium (shelling pea), and have what may be a cross of Fast Lady Northern Southern Pea (forgot to put this one in your package) if you'd like them.

My little treasure trove arrived today. Wow Garry you really out did yourself. THANK YOU and thanks to everyone who sent in seeds. I'll have a blast tonight researching these.

Tormato: I'm thrilled with what you sent... A close collaborator in my valley successfully grew lima beans last year. She might not have got back as much seed as she planted, but some of them reproduced, so there is hope for me, especially with the nice diversity that you included.

I've already put 3 week old fava transplants into my garden, and don't expect any seeds planted now to produce fruit this year. It gets too hot, too fast.

I'm expecting to plant the pea seeds you sent tomorrow.

I thought the name "Northern Southern Cowpea" was fun. Planting a hybrid of that variety would be a thrill...

Here's the rest of my favas. Loaded up and ready to be planted on Friday.

I received the package yesterday. Thank you so much. I am delighted with the varieties, some repeats but a lot of new ones to try. Actually too many for one year, my garden area is not big enough and I have to have room for tomatoes. And squash, and carrots. etc.
Might I suggest when you have time- to start a thread to answer questions about the varieties we can't find information on. Like you did for the tomatoes. An example, Grandpa Hale's bean. Would like to know if it is bush or pole and is it a snap, shell or dry? Anyway it will give us a chance to discuss beans some more. It will be a couple of months before I can put mine in the ground.

Gary)

I got my bean pack awhile back, and forgot to come on and say THANK YOU SO MUCH! and for the tomatoes! What a wonderful thing this is, and it's so fun to go pawing through! I now need to not only re-do my tomato list this year, but also go over beans again!

I haven't even had enough time to inventory it all, let alone look up a lot of things. Luckily I have this week before easter off of work!
