It’s easier to do things right the first time, even if it takes a little longer. It takes more time and energy to do it over.

Some get discouraged and quit. The absolute worst is a guy I know that just put slop together to get the job done. Then he would get mad and blow up when people called him out on his sloppy work. The company I worked for sent him to welding school at night and when it came time to take the test at the plant he failed. I never told those people I could weld. The guy (co-worker) that took the office over because I didn't want the job exploded when he found out how much money they were paying me. He was so unprofessional he came out in front of everyone and spouted his mouth off about me and another guy and the money we made. Worth |

Yep, I'm using it as a sort of mantra right now to just do the best I can with where I'm at and what I have and flourish no matter the circumstance.

Worth, I'll be honest with you, a lot of the things you share go right over my head!
Me too, so you're not the only one. |

Now I feel like some kind of a freak.
Here is but a small sample of what I use to measuer stuff. Inside outside along the side down the hole around the side you name it. Some of these tools are as old as me. The calipers on the far right I have had for about 34 years Worth IMG_20160708_47449.jpg Last edited by Worth1; July 8, 2016 at 02:21 PM. |

Here it is finished.
I indexed four marks on it with numbers 0 1 2 3. The threads on the rod are 20 threads per inch, one full revolution of the stop is .050 of an inch. So 2 1/2 rotations are 1/8 of an inch and so on. The stops that were on it were cheap quick adjust stops that would slip causing me much grief. Worth IMG_20160709_53577.jpg |

Trying to think what our lathes at work are. I know the biggest & oldest is a Lodge & Shipley. They have a newer smaller model but I'm at a loss to remember the name.

You are more than welcome.
I should start my own Youtube channel. It would be entertaining at least as I am in the shop or running around half the time in flipflops shorts and no shirt hair not combed running the equipment. Plus folks would learn things. Worth |

I think it is one of the best things to happen in many many years.
Yes there is stupid junk but there is some real good stuff there too. And no one can stop you from putting it there |
