Finally getting some tomatoes ripening! Here's three pink Brandywines that I've picked in the last week. The first was only about 8.5oz, but it made a great BLT!

Also have more Sungolds than I know what to do with, and my Big Beefs and San Marzanos are blushing!

Our season has not been good at all. It was a very chilly spring and early summer. We have had a few days here and there that were warm and sunny, and the past couple weeks we had several of those nice days, but things did not get off to a good start. My tomatoes, even in the greenhouse, are about 3 weeks late.

I hope we all have a better season next year!

Sherry, I am so sorry to hear that... let's hope for a better year in 2013.
I hope you are not going to get any frost any time soon and your tomatoes will have a chance to ripen. I will keep my fingers crossed.

With our late blight outbreak I almost lost my hope a couple of weeks ago, but seeing some tomatoes ripening today cheered me up. If the dry spell continues, my tomatoes may survive longer!

Things are definitely late (and wierd in some cases), but a few are
ripening. It looks like I will have a good crop of tomatoes from Siletz,
Fireworks II, and Magyar Piros Boker plants. I have one each of those
in a good spot, and they are full of fruit, just starting to blush. I am
eating a trickle of Moravsky Div, Stupice, and some early crosses.
I had my first Vzryv, Golden Bison, and a couple of others this week,
and Belyi Naliv are just blushing.

I have a Nile River Egyptian plant that set only one fruit, early.
It developed into a big, round red fruit about 1/2 to 3/4 the size
of a slowpitch softball. It did not have a mature seed in it, only
small, immature green ones smaller than a sesame seed in
the locules. It has a taste that is both sweet and tart at the
same time and far from bland. (I wished I had a bushel of
them after eating it. Some other year.)

I was excited today to find nearly ripe Azoychka, Pink Honey and Aunt Ruby's German Green! These are alll fairly large fruit, too! The Moravski Div and Sophie's Choice continue to provide a couple of fruit each day I return to my community garden.

My green beans and lemon cucs have really slowed down. I think the very hot weather we had caused the blossoms to fall off. Hopefully with this week of temps in the 70's they will fire back up again.

I love Aunt Ruby's German Green so much, and I was so happy to discover the same taste in Emerald cherry. I am hoping to collect enough seeds for it to offer in 2013 catalog - it is pretty productive, so I should be able to do it, if the weather cooperates.

We had a very cold rain this morning, it is cold and overcast today. 16C. More rain is forecasted. I hope this is not the end of the season yet?

My best tasting fruits so far came from Emerald, Black Krim (exquisite!), Volovsko Srce, Grub's Mystery Green RL, Grightmire Pride NOT (red beefsteak), Dwarf Mr. Snow, Indische Fleisch (superb!), Kozula's Striped Dark Violet #130.

Yes, Tania! Aunt Ruby's German Green is probably my FAVORITE of all tomatoes! And it is early for me here in Portland for a big tomato. One of my first to ripen other than my small earlies.

We've gotten 32 lbs from our 3 Jetstar vines so far, with any kind of luck maybe another 10lbs. Lots of Stupice, cherries - the only big disappointment has been Moskvich not many fruit at all. This was our first year growing it and I probably won't grow it again. Overall we've had a very pleasant summer here in the Mid-Willamette Valley.

A Moroccan friend gave us a recipe for Zaalouk which we cooked up to go along with the big chuck of Chinook Salmon another friend caught on Saturday. No emoticons for buurp!

Our cat is fond of Chinook Salmon. I was cooking a big slab one
afternoon, and he showed up on the doorstep with a freshly caught
mole. I guess he thought that was a fair trade.

This year the squash plants aren't very happy. We got a lot in early August, but they just pooped out... I think the heat got to them.

Finished up most the corn, the tomatoes are still going, some have slowed down.

Planting fall plants now in the empty spaces.
