Yeah she was complaining that they were heavy. Had mommy spot her just in case she would accidentally drop it. It's so humid and hot here that i feel my chances of growing anything bigger than 3 lbs is slim. Though we still have some big maters on the vines they are nicely shaded by the foliage.. Still fingers crossed for something bigger than 3 lbs.

You should be proud of those. What is really nice is we can see your daughter is having as much fun as you.

Opportunity knocks. Will you prune off all of the smaller blossoms on that cluster?

Chapman is my last best hope so this is encouraging. No blossoms yet, it was traumatized in the same hailstorm that got my two Terhunes.
Great thread and a lot of good things happening for Team Tomatoville and the big maters. |

It only takes one Ricky.
Out of 5 plants I have dedicated to giants, I only have one total megabloom after 1 month worth of flower production. Of course my regular size tomato varieties have about 12 total lol. |

Those are some prime maters she's bench pressing. What types are they; and do you have any tips for success?

First tomato
This Terhune started to blush. It has a wound on the bottom, the blush started around that. It is somewhere between 4-5lbs.
The Belmonster is larger and not blushing, I have it wrapped in leaves to keep it from ripening. I have another Terhune which is growing like crazy, it has potential to be a big tomato. Too early to tell yet on my BZ's , growing good, so I have my fingers crossed. |

I bet that dude from Soldotna, doubting your weights last year, is following this thread closely.

What is the history of the Terhune? I assume it is an heirloom variety but where did it come from. What has it grown so far as to size? And finally, where do I obtain seed for next year?

Ricky, that scrawny Terhune is embarrassing anyway, however... the Belmonster lurks in the shadows. LOL
It's just about having fun, I grow tomatoes to sell and eat. |

Lub, I got my original seed from Marianna. It is supposed to be a PL variety, but mine is not, I never get a PL, so it is stable, and a mystery, it's pink too.
I got a 5.42 with 3 tomatoes on a plant I have one going now that should be a big one, much larger than the puny one in the photo, it is 5-6 fused together. I will send you some seed if you want it. The Terhune I have throws many fused blooms, much more than BZ, so I am crossing it with Fabrice's OP BZ line, as well as Delicious which grows huge globes for me. |
