Also NY zone 5, tornado alert,turned of my computer, went to bed and pulled the covers over my head and silently sang appropriate songs.

No tornado, no rain,thank heavens but I can only speak to what happened here at home. The AM paper might have different reports.

Just wondering, being in a tornado prone area myself ( and they scare me a lot, much more than earth quakes do), just what are appropriate songs for bad weather? I might have need of some sooner or later!!

Here it has been hot and humid. A simple quarter mile walk can take a 20 something year olds' breath away. At 53, yeah you start sweating a few minutes after going outside. The weather here is more like June than May - not complaining - it's just the way it is.

I'm a bit south of Oakley... I worked from home today and spent 5 hours under a tornado warning, hunkered down in the basement. The rain came down in torrents; many roads are closed and we're under travel restrictions. 67,000 people in the area have no power tonight. My lights cut out briefly, but the other end of my street is dark tonight. Winds were clocked at 78 mph, and there were more than a thousand lightning strikes in a single hour (according to the local power utility). My next-door neighbors lost two trees, and it appears that my patio furniture is now scattered across the backyard. Glad I didn't plant out yet...

Two days of rain after about 1 month with no drop is a good change. My garden would surely love it. It is clearing now, so all is perfect.

Well, we had another short but somewhat furious storm here. No damages that I know of, it's dark and I haven't gone out to check there. It came on quick enough that Belle, maybe the only Labrador who does NOT do water at all, got semi soaked beating a path to the back door! Belle always acts like she will melt like the wicked witch from the west if a raindrop or hose water gets on her, the drama queen!

Thunder, lightening boiled up quick and strong for about an hour again, now all's quiet.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Those storms sound wicked! I checked our forecast to see if we're getting 'leftovers' but nothing out of the ordinary this time. We're having quite a sunny and pleasant early spring. No leaves on trees yet but the larches are just in green tip. By pleasant I mean mostly 10-15 C (50-60 F) although some days the dewpoint has stayed well below zero, aka really icy breeze. My only complaint is that it's been a bit too windy to transplant stuff with confidence of survival. Had an aphid crisis in the greenhouse, and moved all the green veggies outdoors and they also have suffered a lot of wind stress. At least the animals have left them alone so far.

Meantime it's nice to know I have workers in the garden even when I can't be out there myself. Dashing fellow posing for the photo op.
