Don't worry about the water spots, that's a bunch of beautiful tomatoes!

Here's a couple in their snug homes.
Dester in the foreground and Brad's Black Heart "crying in its beer" as one Tomatovillian put it perfectly. Sigma provided the sturdy containers. Thank you for the seeds Tomatoville . brads black heart and dester in sigma sorbitol containersTV.jpg |

Here's my rooftop "greenhouse"
My 3rd set of volunteers are ready to go. They seem to enjoy sunrise to sunset bathing. ROOFTOP GREENHOUSE 3.jpg Assorted peppers and tomatoes, and a stray watermelon in there too. ROOFTOP GREENHOUSE 2.jpg ROOFTOP GREENHOUSE 1.jpg Great day to all! |

Berkeley Tie Dye
Wow these things are big! Some of them are just starting to color up, got a double (triple?) that I would guess is over 2 pounds. Anyone know how to tell when they're ready?

I pick our BTDs when the shoulders just start to soften. Hope that makes sense.

Yesterday I posted pics of my Berkeley Tie Dye tomatoes. I asked the question how to tell when they're ready. Angie (AJSears) was kind enough to tell me to check the shoulders for softness. My biggest BTD, a double, felt just right so I decided to wait until morning to pick it. This morning I was going to take it down to the post office to weigh it before indulging.
He who hesitates is lost. As I approached the plant, clippers in hand, I saw the tailless squirrel that hangs out here, seemingly to just drive my dogs insane, bolt from the plant and go under the fence. Not a good sight. Sure enough. At least I caught him before he could eat much, I can still salvage most all of it. I'll post pics of it cut up later.
