Now you have to properly manage the plant and the blossom.

Another loser
This one came in a bit over 4lbs, and was a disappointment, it prematurely ripened for whatever reason. However, I finally got a Terhune bloom that I was looking for, it is fused, but not like the ones shown, the tomatoes are almost separated, and the stem is huge. In hindsight it is very much like the 5.42lb from last year but more gnarly.

Mark, 4 pounds is NOT a loser. It is a good size tomato. Nice looking too.

That one right there is almost a state record in Colorado, 4.65 lb. We'll be cheering on that Terhune, keep us posted.

Here is my one plant with a possible giant. It is Chapman with three lobes.
This thing is perma-curled, but so was McCoy's from what I remember seeing in photos. The rest are Delicious. Man are they big. I can really see why it held the record for so long. I can imagine a multibloom approaching something nice with these guys. IMG_1407.JPG IMG_1408.JPG IMG_1409.JPG IMG_1410.JPG And I just noticed looking at this pic that those 2 fruits look like they may attached, I will have to check that out. Too bad if so, as there are a lot of other big fruit already formed on that plant. ugh IMG_1411.JPG Last edited by PureHarvest; June 29, 2016 at 01:50 PM. |

I've got quite a few of those wrap-around Chapmans. really like the compact nature of the plant. Delicious are barely at the seedling stage, as I saved them for the full sun of summer late fall.
So trying again for a big mater with Comp Terhune RL, Terhune PL, Chapman, SOTW, and Delicious. The best part is all of those are awesome flavored and productive. 4 pounder is a beauty Mark! |

My ultra tomato I was so happy about got rot in it, that was my choice tomato of all too, and was Terhune. May be my last attempt for the year, I have a plant left but not sure if I will get another great fruit like the one I killed. Darn...
You could see space between the fused tomatoes, and it had a fused double stem too, darn again. LOL |

Hey,
I'm new to gardening and I'm really stunned by your achievements! I wonder if will ever be able to grow such monsters! I'm learning a lot in this forum. In fact I didn't even know that a bigger bloom could mean a bigger tomato! Anyway, I myself have a couple of tomatoes that look good to me and could possibly get close to 2 pounds (quit laughing please....). They are Ponderosa. What do you suggest to set my record? I thought I could cover them to prevent them from getting ripe as someone suggested on this thread. What else could I do? I heard you should prune the plant so that the tomato gets more "energy", but what if the plant has other flowers on top? Should I prune those too? It would honestly break my heart. How much and how often should I fertilize from now on? Here's a picture of one of the babies. I took it last night and I just noticed that there was a bed bug walking on it. After a busy day at work it was the only time of the day I had to water all plants. |

It's a measly pound-five, but I broke my record with no effort toward large tomatoes... in fact, more like neglect in the form of too many weeds. I'll be eating this sucker for a week.

Nice kayjay.
My best is not that great, but a 1 lb 14 oz Delicious is my benchmark for next year. |

Mark, that baby over 4 lbs, is a winner in my book.
My own past record is 1lb, 4oz. But I think i have a chance to break it this year. I have few big CP and AN. still getting bigger.
