Our rows are a little closer now, but not much. We have found wide rows are invaluable for ease of cultivation and ease of picking. These are about 8 feet apart. We plant a little closer now (maybe 6.5' apart).

If the rows are any closer it becomes harder to pick later in the season, and we have found the worst thing is to have harvesters feeling oppressed by a slog through overgrown rows.

Jonnyhat, if Fred doesn't reply soon...

I just ordered from growartisan.com. Excited to try some of these varieties too. I didn't get an email conformation yet, but I will be patient.

Noticed this today. Double leaders, and if you look closely, both are identical. Don't recall ever seeing this.

Lol seems so. I'm curious to see if the symmetry continues through fruitset.

Those are incredibly identical. They look like mirror images of each other.

Cool! I had a micro do that this past winter. Staying tiny it was not so dramatic.

I think I might bag some blossoms and save some seed from this one. Ya never know……as a heritable trait it might have value to someone.

I'm growing Orange Jazz tomato this year. The first truss set only 1 fruit due to weather. The plant is healthy but considerably smaller than its neighbor, KBX. It has set more fruit than this one on later trusses. The first fruit was just starting to blush and with expected rain and cracking at fruit top I picked it and will let it ripen inside. I'm also not sure why it is so ugly--only tomato like that.

My question is does OJ throw hearts? Because this looks like a 455g heart to me. Not sure if it does that from remaining instability or if it might be a first fruit thing or if it possibly is a mutation or something?

Any others that have seen Orange Jazz give hearts? All are heart like. If this is unique I may save extra seed. Fred any comments?

Is that just one plant that is doing that?

Our Orange Jazz is consistently a beefsteak. It produces some hearts late in the season. Maybe you got the random crossed seed. It will be interesting to see what color those are.

Yes Fred it is one plant (the only OJ I'm growing). I harvested seed from the below tomato. Very little seed. Sampled a bit of the tomato, very meaty, yet rather juicy and quite delicious with a mix of sweet, tart and a bit fruity. The first tomato was ugly due to the cold weather when it set, so I'll have more pics of later fruit but that looks like it will take a couple weeks. Interesting and delicious.
