Why not just print the labels, stick them to the blinds and cover with clear tape. I would think it would work as well as the spray or better and probably be cheaper.

Last year I wrote the tomato variety on 3 1/2 x 15/16 inch plain address labels in #2 pencil. I then folded the adhesive labels over a rung of the appropriate cage. Next I covered the label with two inch clear packing tape. The labels were still legible when I cut them off the cages last week. This is labor intensive, but I had the supplies on hand and do not have that many plants.

I'm new to the board, but thought I'd put my $.02 in here...

I've found various places on the internet that sell printable plant tags... here's one example: http://www.rippedsheets.com/laser/100710.html but they aren't cheap.

It seems like the most practical solution may to print them on heavy card stock, laminate them and cut them out.

good thread! I am still trying to figure out what works best for me. In the ground, a garden map is foolproof. In pots it should, in principle, also work perfect. However, if you are a renter like me, I have found that other tenants and gardeners don't think twice about rearanging pots if they are in the way. For now, I tag and make a make, since it is particularly important to keep track of plants you are breeding and making selections from.
