Here's the results of a followup head to head.

Same as before. PBTD on the left. IS on the right.

This time around the IS was certainly deeper in color. These two were not as striking as the toms in the first tasteoff. But they delivered in the flavor department.

The IS had the same great texture. The heart was smoky and melon sweet and delivered a more "tomatoey essence" than the paler one of the first trial. A bit more of the delicious acidity that I was hoping for.

The PBTD still had the superior "acid bite" living up to its name. The "meat" was both sweet and tart with great firmness. Tangy citrusy juice. Yum.

Pretty much a tossup here. They are both sophisticated tomatoes. The IS had a better meat and the PBTD had a tastier gel.

My tastebuds rate them today:

Indian Stripe - 9.5
Pink Berkeley Tie Dye - 9.5

I'm ordering some JD's Special C-Tex seeds soon. Can't wait to try that one out. Along with Brad's Black Heart, Gary'O Sena, Vintage Wine, Spudakee Purple...

Panhandler you will love the JDs Special C Tex and the Gary O' Sena. They both did good for me this year along with BTD Pink and IS. I think you might want to add Black Krim also. I know it splits a lot after rains but even so it is one that does well down hear and will be a definite contender in your taste tests.
Make sure you give your Gary O' Sena plenty of room because it gets huge. I had one on a trellis that was at least 10 feet tall and was over 15 feet wide. You have to prune it or it will take over your tomato patch. It also makes more fruit when pruned in my experience. I like a big healthy plant but that thing was ridiculous. It was also one of the most tolerant of nematodes and fusarium along with IS.

Have to agree; JD's is my favorite out of the garden so far.
