Sadly only solution I have found so far is to just wait for them to almost ripen then pick them and take in the house. I like the biggie ideal but just not piratical, I have been picking on average 15 - 20 a day and last week in one day I picked probably 60+ thats a lot of baggies.

During the recent dry spell the squirrels got really bad. They stripped several of my plants of all fruit once it got large and even many of the small greenies. Luckily we finally got a little rain and they have slacked off a bit in their tomato eating. I wonder if they were eating them for the moisture inside when it was really dry. The only trouble with that is they now have developed a taste for tomatoes and I'm sure they are going to give my fall crop a problem. They basically ruined my crop from my June plantings.

I had a pet squirrel as a kid. He fell out of the nest as a baby, and my dog found him. I raised him with an eyedropper. Although we released him, he hung around for years - would come when you called, eat nuts, sit on our shoulders and nibble on ears. Made a really cute noise too.
