Grub's Mystery Green and Absinthe should be added to the list....both were heavy producers and had terrific flavor. Cherokee Green was superb as was Aunt Ruby's German Green.. GWR's are amazing!

After tasting Evergreen this summer, the green when ripes have become my favourite (at least I hope that they are all as flavourful in my garden as Evergreen) - so I will be giving a spot in my garden to every green variety I can get seed for! I'm excited to order a couple from the Dwarf Project too... they can sit in containers on either side of my patio door, to be picked in the morning as breakfast!

Add us to the CG fan club. My DW rates it #1 in our 24 variety taste test. I rate it #2 only behind Brandywine Pink (and that is a big compliment) As
opposed to Carolyn, we did like Green Zebra and found it to have a nice zip to it. That said, it is not a CG, IMO. I will try Green Giant next year and thanks to this board for some great suggestions such as Kosovo (#4). CP is #3 and Mariana's Peace is fifth. Big Yellow, Garden Peach were spitters for us and, believe it or not, Black Cherry was a big disappointment after hearing all the raves. Sungold f1 lived up to it's reputation. |
