There is a plant, gosh why does my memory have to fail me, I'll have to make a call to find out the name and I'll come back and post. Supposedly it helps to kill the JB when they eat it. I want to say 4 o' clocks, but not sure, it is a pretty flower and my neighbor up north planted them everywere, he did have fewer JB than the rest of us on the street.

this year i am growing both provider and rattlesnake pole beans- they love the provider and leave the rattlesnake almost completely alone, even where the plants are literally touching one another. no provider beans for me next year!
Those JB's sure have finicky tastes, I noticed that too about rattlesnake pole beans, I haven't grown Provider, but they'd rather eat Kentucky Wonder here.
Also with basil, they prefer Genovese over Lettuce Leaf or Sweet Basil and they never touch any of the small leaf varieties like Fino Verde and Spicy Globe or the Lemon, Lime, Cinnamon, Dark Opal and Thai basil's.

I usually have swarms and swarms of them. They're usually flying around my head when I go out on the deck trying to work with my containers. And they usually gobble up my roses. This year I put out some milky white spore powder early on (like end of March or early April). My JB population is drastically diminished this year. I'm seeing them but not in swarms.

It is 4 o'clocks. Japanese Beetles love them but it is a fatal treat. I have many of them planted this year and last. I seem to have fewer so far. I have also noticed that they swarm the wild Pussy Willows that grow along my back ditch. As far as I am concerned, let them dine there.

One night I planted a few packets of 4 o'clocks along the neighborhood ditch. Hopefully it will make a dent in the population and perhaps the neighbors might even enjoy them.
