Drew, Pimenta da Neyde makes a nice ornamental addition to flower pots and flower beds. You should probably sow a few more just to make sure you have enough. ;-)

I'm trying to germinate a Purple Flash to go next to it, or maybe the Black Pearl between the purples!

A few updates to grow list
Aji Lemon Drop Pepper
Uyababa Pepper - I had a hard time with this one. Seeds sent to me didn't want to germinate but the seeds from "Seeds For Africa" germinated! Yeah!

I have a few other germinating, mostly I germinated so many for practice. Seems all is working fairly well. Some didn't come up, but germination rates are pretty good 9 out of 10 on average. Part of it is having nice fresh seeds, as time goes by, just getting older seeds to germinate may be an issue.
A few I have multiple plants, as I want to make sure to get some fruit. They are small and fragile, hard to say what will make it to finish at this point.
Looking forward to starting tomatoes soon! Maybe in a week.

I grew Lemon Drop last year and got good production on my one plant. I dried and ground them into powder. It's too hot for me, but my husband loves it. It's much hotter than the red cayennes I grow.

Did they stay yellow or darken a bit?
I planted two seeds, and neither came up, so I added 4 more, and now three have sprouted! I have way too many hots. I do use hot spices, just not that often. Next year a lot more mild peppers will be grown. This year is more of an experiment. I want to try a lot of new recipes and such. Somehow I have to find room for all these peppers. I want to grow a lot of tomatoes too!
I will always grow some hots, I want to try a lot and see which ones work for me, that are easy to grow, have the taste I'm looking for etc. For example I don't like the taste of habaneros, scotch bonnets are closely related, I like them a lot! So even hots vary a lot in taste, at least to me. I didn't grow any bonnets as I know I like them. Looking for other hots. I'll grow bonnets next year.

I heard Lemon Drops are good producers and grow well, so they sound like good candidates. Plus I tend to like the yellows better.

They did darken a bit and the powder is probably more of a mustard yellow rather than the bright yellow of the fresh peppers. I grew them in a five gallons grow bag and the plant was very compact and bushy. It set late compared to the red cayenne, but once it did, it really loaded up. I started two this year, but only one will get planted out.

Thanks for the info, the 4th seed popped out today, so 4 plants now. I may experiment with this one, top one, not another. Use different fertilizer or growing medium, see if I can discover anything.

Why repot? They look perfectly Ok to me in those pots. I normally grow to 6 inches high in an 8 ounce dixie cup.

Well not yet, the photo is a week old. Some are getting tall.
