Yep. And the greater the fertilization of the media, the deadlier. I think it's bacterial, especially since it is worse with organic fertilizers. Cold temps breed anaerobic bacteria, the microscopic bad guys.

Is the dog a Malinois, or a German Shepherd mix? I love shepherds, as you can see from my avatar.
I have a papered full blood German Shepard named
" Augustus Von Buschenstein " Mary has a little bitty pitbull named " Daisy "
They had an " accident " last year named " Bear "
He goes with me everywhere or I'd have a bunch of 3 legged chairs and no shoes...

My daughter always has her Blue Heeler pup with her in the car these days.

That is a really cool dog! He looks like a $20,000 Belgian Malinois Police K-9.

He chews up one more pair of Mary's shoes and you can have him!

Nah joking, he's a keeper. Had 7 pups everyone that got a pup might be short on some shoes but they all wouldn't trade the dog for anything. They're Hybrids!

Bummer sorry to hear that... my loss this year was starting 30 artichokes and ending up with 3.

I start in 72 cell trays with MG potting soil and have pretty good luck, but Ive noticed the 6 cells that fail, the soil turns green and no seeds germinate. I have been pretty hard on Harding off my plants this year, seems I don't have patience like I used to...

Report - we going down to 39 but seedlings are in the hoophouse under frost blankets. There are just too many to keep bringing back and forth unless we are really down to frost temps. I will water them with warm water first thing in the morning

Meh, that was only about 10%. What sucks is it was mostly the ones I love. Like ISPL, Prudens Purple etc...but I have new ones going now and I have room for some varieties I wasn't planning on growing which is exciting.
