Why is it so hard for me to remember the plural of moose?

In my circle it's considered proper to say "mooses" or even "meese", for the sake of clarity. Multiple moose are deserving of some kind of exclamatory note, IMO, to distinguish them from random singles.

Smokey wont listen to me.
She just had to go out so I let her out knowing she would want right back in. At the door now meowing wanting back in after about 15 minutes of the cold weather outside. |

28 degrees F in north Texas tonight. Earliest freeze in 30 years. Picked a couple of bushels of mixed peppers today. It was a use them or lose them situation.

Frost coming in a day or two. Today it was dry & I had help available, so we picked the entire garden. I've got buckets of green tomatoes. Also picked all the peppers. Many are on the stem, and the stems put in water, so they can try to ripen a bit more on the vine (although they taste good green).

Cold, damp cold even though it hasn't been really rainy, just some here and there. Got to 26F per the weather people here, but mine said 23F. My fingers just ache and I am wearing a coat and my head covered, too. The cat gets annoyed with me as I don't go to bed when she wants me to go, but then she sleeps about 20 hours a day.
It's just winter here and will be cold for awhile, then back to too hot soon enough. Can't change it, so you adapt as it goes. I am luckier than many that have deep snow or monsoon rains or terrible fires.

we are in a stretch of weather with high temps in the 30s, and below freezing at night.
rain/snow showers periodically through out the day each day. no snow sticking yet, but it won't be long. humidity is higher making it seem colder. the wood stove is fired up daily. the trick or treaters will have to dress warm today. keith

All of our trees are still covered in green leaves. We have not experienced any autumn color change. Got down to 29 degrees last night. Now I wonder if the trees will change their color or just drop their green leaves. It's a really unusual fall for north Texas. It changed from summer heat to winter cold in two weeks.

something just isn't right about snow coming down and sticking, over an inch already, trees are still full of covered leaves! and it's only Halloween and I'm in southeastern Wisconsin close to Illinois boarder!

Still no frost here. There's a chance on Saturday night. If not, it'll likely be next week with at least 3 nights estimated to be in the 20's. Overnight tonight is supposed to be about 60 (usually it's about 40 this time of year), with temps falling into the 40's later in the morning.
I'm still picking SunGolds. And, I discovered one plant with one large green tomato. I'll have to dust off my records to ID it. The last picking of the season is a couple of days way. |
