I'm excited to hear about your Esterina F2. Did you grow the F1 last year? How many F2 plants are you going for? |

On Esterina, I bought the F1 tomatoes from the farmers market, last summer and saved seeds. This year I am growing Sun Gold , Black Cherry and Esterina , all cherry size. SG already has few pea size fruits. Silvery Fir Tree has almost golf ball size tomatoes. That to me means "EARLY". Out of about 15 varieties sown on Jan 19, those are the only ones with tomatoes.

Interesting experiment, hopefully Esterina is not as difficult to stabilize as Sungold.

Four of my tomato varieties began germinating, today. I guess I better move to that seedling thread for pictures. Anyway, the three that have germinated so far are all from saved seeds: Green Pear, Girl Girl's Weird Thing, Napa Giant, and Oroma.

I think it is just an isolation of a strain.
A lot of heirlooms have more than one strain.
