Karma Pink Germination
Karen,
I planted late this year - April 19th - and I wanted to share that the 6 seeds of Karma Pink have all germinated! I’m very excited to see this one grow and will post photos. In general my germination this year is not great, with the exception of my own saved seeds from ISRL and Rebel Yell and Karma Pink. I’m not sure what is going on - maybe I didn’t do something properly when sowing them - admittedly I was in a rush to get it done, but we’ll see. So far spring is fighting tooth and nail not to start so it’ll be a late plant out at any rate. Karen, thanks for all your hard work! And thank you Marsha for sending me the seeds! Sharon |

Just to clarify - Karma Pink was sent by Marsha! They are not my saved seeds!

When seeds are sown side by side in the same conditions and some grow 100% and some don’t grow at all the problem is not with the gardener, the problem is the seeds.
Thank you Sharon for the update, I hope they continue to grow well for you and if you post photos, that would be awesome either on Northern gardener or in the KARMA project thread here on TV. Have a great season! Karen |

The true North hearts at F7 and some new PL beefsteaks which will be F3. Looking forward to the season.
Typical for mine the very tall seedlings with almost oversized leaves. The hearts with characteristically for my crosses drooping foliage. Happy with the big seedlings so far. Seed sown March 23 KarenO Last edited by KarenO; April 29, 2018 at 03:24 PM. |

Thank you Ann, I am looking forward to the season, should be some interesting things among the new F3 group. I like surprises, some big interesting beefsteaks with great flavour were the F2s. I also have a group of F3 regular leaf seedlings that didn’t have a chance to shine while I was concentrating exclusively on the potato leaf selections. Glad tomato seeds keep for years, gives an opportunity to mothball some until I had room.
The F7 Potato leaf hearts are closing in on stable so that’s exciting too. It’s going to be a busy year KarenO |

Karma Pink
I have just transplanted two Karma Pinks into 4” pots. My seedlings were started late but I have good faith they will be fine by the time I plant out in about 3 weeks. I will post a couple of photos when they are adjusted to their new homes! But so far so good! Lovely PL leaves. I only sowed six seeds - one died because of my mistake, and I chose the two biggest ones to pot up. Wish I could have done all of them but don’t have the space. I am really looking forward to growing these out!

All of the true North hearts as well as some new F3 beefsteak selections are out in those garden and growing strong. Midnight sun and true colours are first to have blooms.
Will update as they progress but so far have transitioned well to the great outdoors. KarenO |

Karen, they are so big. Really nice looking garden already. Hope you will have good weather and plants start setting soon.

Your garden is lovely. MS was my favorite of the 3. So glad you made those crosses.

Great garden: luxuriantly green and vigorously flourishing! I looks like your transition has gone very well, too.

Karma Pink update
Some early photos of Karma Pink, which was only sown on April 19th. It germinated well, 100%, and I ended up potting two of the strongest seedlings. It seems to be a bit slow, but coming along. I won’t be planting out for at least another 2-3 weeks, so other photos to follow.
Thanks, Sharon |
