Default Oregonfarmer...

Nice growing set up! Good old baling twine. I love the stuff; it's as handy as duct tape.

Nice pictures everyone!

I'm noticing the Texas trend. Big state, so I'm sure it varies quite a bit. I will be in Dallas next week!.

Here are updated (from two weeks ago) pictures of my Earthboxes 'maters in No Cal.. Mostly dwarfs/dwares, or semi-determinates. Names to follow, but those that are not Dwarf project are from Boar Farms, or Artisan in Sunol. I'm growing about 12 varieties, but a few haven't set fruit yet.

I'm not complaining. I seem to recall that fuit set is way better than last year.

My tomato patch is roughly 9'X18'. I grow 27 plants on 9- 5' wire cages. Mostly Big Beef, Early Girl, and Big Boy...this year I added in Delicious, Sioux, Cleota Pink, and Chef's Choice Pink. That's my old cat Roxie...she's going strong at the ripe old age of 18!20180620_171846.jpg

My season is over. I pulled up most of the plants. I had nematode damage ranging from severe to slight. The stink bugs decided to show up towards the end of the season.

Donna, Texas Gulf Coast...it's hot

Spooky: Sorry for the end of your spring tomato plants. Plants in our Austin plot may not be far behind, but we're pouring the stored rainwater to them. Most are under shade cloth. We have many blossoms, but fear none will take set because of the 100-degree days and 77-degree nights. Cut up a Box Car Willie this morning, scraped out seeds and enjoyed the remaining flesh.

Actually just planted the plants 3 weeks ago from the green house. This set of flowers was the first on the plant and must have over 100 blossoms maybe 150 and the fruits are just setting. Never seen anything like it. Season is just starting in the Pacific Northwest.

Low tonight is 77. It may not be until October that the evening low is below 70.

Cooler here today, with about 95 degrees expected (was 105 yesterday), but lots of fire and smoke.
