Golly Gee Ricky, will you ever get to plant anything?

This is a late one, and more on the way. Might get a total of 6 to 7 inches of heavy wet snow and there was another inch of rain before that. I'm out nothing but a little time, got plenty of seedlings waiting to get in the game. I'm concerned for Marcus though, a lot of work on the line for him.

Denver's really been hit by extreme weather for May. Ricky's quite prepared for his garden with backup plants. I'm worried for Marcus, too. I'm not one for pushing the plant out date to earlier and earlier. Too much work! It'll all work out.

Brutal. I don't know why they said May snow was a sight for sore eyes... make your eyes sore, more like it.
We had a few lovely days this week, but naturally it's dipping below freezing on the holiday weekend. It does every year, and some parts will get snow but I think we're only getting rain this time although heavy northerly winds. Still it will be too cold to be planting tomatoes, so we're bumping plantout plans for the farm to next week. |

buncha rain here the past couple days forestalled getting anything done outside.
strong north winds here dropped the temp down to the mid 30s. no snow though. it has been a cooler than normal spring so far, its hard to get anything done. work on the sunny days, day off, and it rains all day. i had to get a fire going in the wood stove to take some of the chill and dampness out of the house. keith |

Today's forecast 59F and sunny, I will give the trays a little time outside. Night time temps are still too low and there's more cold rain coming Sunday and Monday. Harden off when I can and plan to set out pots Fri and Sat. next week.

Anyone remember the Twilight Zone episode where the bookworm who dislikes being around people was the only person left after a nuclear event because he was in an underground book vault. In his jumping glee he knocks off glasses and steps on them.
Not sure why that popped in my head, but I'm glad T'ville is back up and running. |

I'm with ya!
Sucks on your snow, I guess that mile high elevation makes your springs a wild roller coaster ride. We had a real nice warm stretch, which included planting out. The past few days have been cold, windy and cloudy. Not bad enough to kill the planted out peppers and tomatoes, but they definitely are just hanging out not growing much. I do see some blossoms starting to form on some plants, which probably means a lot of fused blossoms with these cool temps. Another big slug of cold rain is about start and last into the afternoon hours. |

Perhaps some of you read about the ferocious storm that went thru NY,MA and as far down as PA.
Never have I seen such colors in the sky, 3 alerts out, when it got close Ishut off the computer, went to bed and pulled the covers over my head, and silently sang some songs, etc. Massive destruction with trees down, roads blocked many schools were closed yesterday, power out, they had to call for help from Buffalo and elsewhere. High winds, lots of cloud to ground lightning, large hail, etc. And now several days of much colder weather. It got down to about 39 F last night. Carolyn

We have received 4" of rain the last 24 hours. With gust front winds of 75 mph which damaged and uprooted several trees. 3 tornado warnings within 15 miles from home. Fortunately we had no damage and the garden looks fine this morning. I know others in the area are not as lucky. My containers tomatoes are the only ones with fruit and they drain extremely well so I think they are fine. Spring gardening is like playing Russian Roulette.

Glad you came through okay. The storm had thankfully weakened a bit by the time it made it here, but we still got a lot of the rain, wind, spectacular lightning and thunder. When our cell phones started getting pinged with the severe weather alerts, we had the house closed up because the AC had been on. I opened up the back door to go out and zip up the mini greenhouses, and the wind was so violent it sounded like a freight train was coming through. Thankfully there was no major damage in our area. The temperature dropped from 83 when the storm hit, down to 68 just an hour later, which was great because we could leave the AC off and sleep with the windows open. |

Woke yesterday morning with tornado sirens going off.. Some damage in area, rained over an inch yesterday and an inch last night. No work and it's too wet to plant. I have managed to get 50 tomato and 50 pepper plants in, but have no idea when the rest can be planted.
