Luigiwu, I took these pictures this morning. They are growing at the same rate as bush Zucchini, and are the biggest squash plants we have so far. That's dirt I tilled on that leaf - lol

Three weeks of almost everyday heavy rain later... The fence is 2' tall. I'm guessing the plants are 18" now. After an inch and two tenths rain yesterday morning - it has been dry and sunny. The plants have taken off growing. The last picture shows brown areas on a leaf - it was mud that splashed up on it.

AlittleSalt, please keep us updated with the Porter and Improved Porter tomatoes. I am very curious as to the size differences when ripe. I am growing two Improved Porter plants and so far the tomatoes look like the regular Porter tomatoes. If your Improved Porter tomatoes get any bigger than your Porter tomatoes please post some pictures. Thank You, whistech.

whistech, I'll take some pictures tomorrow. The improved Porters are growing larger tomatoes. They are all still green. I'll try to find an object the same size as a regular porter to compare size differences. I will post results on this Leaf Thread. As long as they grow and produce ripe tomatoes, I will be saving seeds to share/trade/swap.

Porter is a drought resistant variety. So far, in this rainy year, they are producing very thick leafy plants. I want to grow Porter's Dark Cherry. I've read in Tomatoville that it is exactly like what I know as Porter. But. what I've read and seen in pictures online of Porter's Dark Cherry is more of a grape sized tomato. I'm adding it to my wish list.

Is the Porter darker red or is that just the lighting?

Are Porter's Pride and Improved Porter the same? I have found conflicting statements about them(it) online. Some people think they are one and the same, others think they are different.

They are the same thing. A marketing strategy is my guess on why it is called by two names.
