If you could make a Hozon that worked for a small backyard garden, it would be a popular product.
It is just a matter of bringing the velocity up I think.
I need to know the size of the holes you guys have without me buying one I cant used for anything.
I have reamers that go from 1/16 to 1/2 in 1/64th increments.
Plus number size drills that go smaller.

What do I stick in it to tell? The back end of a drill bit?

The back end of a bit will work great they are accurate to a .001 of an inch.

I have no idea if the cut away I found on line is accurate.
I took it and blew it up to real size and measured it on the computer screen.
The hole where the water flows looks close to 1/4 inch and the hole coming from the fertilizer bucket looks to be around 1/8 inch.

Review post #33 illustration. The fertilizer bucket has a Schroeder valve stem from standard truck rim, with valve core removed. about 1/4 inch. I drilled hole in Hozon 5/64 inch. The water will flow from bucket through Hozon without any water flow(just like a leaking bucket) I dont think that the Hozon has any built in backflow valves. The reason for drilling the larger hole in the Hozon is because the fertilizer mixture has a slightly higher viscosity than clear water. My bucket (12gal) will empty in about 1 hour at slow minimum water flow and in about 20 minutes at faucet turned halfway on. I also took off the pressure regulator from the hose bib and just replaced it with a standard backflow preventer. I am somewhat limited to explain how this works because of my lack of correct nomenclature but rest assured it does work wonderfully.

Ron
Upon blowing up your picture I can see it looks like you drilled out the drain weep hole for the back flow preventer to inject the fertilizer???

There is no drain weep hole. Only the hole for fertilizer to enter which I did enlarge. There well may be a backflow preventer inside the Hozon but nothing visable on outside except fertilizer injection point.

Amazon has el-cheapo knockoff Mazzei's for $5, but they don't tell you the flow rate required. I went on the Mazzei web site and did the "select your injector" page. The lowest flow model they have is the 287. If I hang the supply bucket up in the air, it should just barely work.

Here's the amazon link to the Mazzei: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B014LEZ12W/

It's over-priced plastic, but a quality brand.

I do not understand why mine works so well and yours does not work at all. Did you drill the Hozon deep enough to hit the hollow in the center of the Hozon???????

Okay Ron I looked again blown up even more you do have it on the siphon side.
If you look just to the right or up stream side of it you will see a little black thing.
This is a port for the vacuum breaker inside the device.

I didn't drill mine. That's why it didn't work. I thought that hanging the bucket high would be enough, but the 3 gpm minimum still remains true, even with a little pressure from the bucket being high.

I just ordered the Mazzei. I'll have it next week.

Yes I did drill right through black ball. I was unaware that it was even there. The Hozon did not work for me out of the package so I had nothing to lose experimenting with it. Now it works great at any flowrate and does what I need it to do. I dont know the mechanix but know it works now where before it did not

Cole
I bet if you drill out yours to 5/64 it will work fine.
The reason I want to modify or make one for smaller flow rates is so it will siphon so it can be hooked up to a container and not drain out.
That and I just like to experiment and make things.

You may or may not find this humorous but I just remembered a time during the early 70s when gas prices had spiked and long lines at every station. I ran an ad in Popular Science for instructions on how to turn water into gas. For 10 dollars cash I sent the information. I wont comment the responses but they were really a lot of them. I had totally forgotton doing this
