"ty, get those babies covered! I'm trying baseball caps."
I would use caps, but my DW owns them ALL. She has about a thousand I guess and only let's me wear or use one at a time. They usually look like this : http://www.aallnet.org/chapter/llne/...2/duncecap.jpg Rob |

"She has about a thousand I guess..."
Well then, she won't notice if a few are missing. Just tell her you lost it.

"And, yeah, where can we go that's cooler...but NOT excessively rainy like H. county! forget S.F.", CoronaBarb.
I'm going to the mountains this weekend(Idyllwild, Ca), it is not supposed to get over 90 there. I wonder what varities of Toms the locals cultivate there? Vince,

Letting old folks suffer in the heat, that’s just too much!
Bob, To tell the truth I only drank 2 beers on Friday when I got home, I then passed out for about 13 hours. 8) I spend most of the time out side in this heat with a shovel and a grubbing hoe, putting in plants, trees and digging trenches for a drip system. And yes I am happy, glad to be home. Strange as it may seem after I get home from the cooler climate the heat doesn’t bother me that much, I must be the only nut in the neighborhood out side. Maybe it’s the heat. Worth |

Vince,
I think the growing season is pretty short up in the mts. It is zone 3 up there.

I spoke too soon earlier...death toll from heat in CA is 38 and climbing.
Somehow, the tomatoes are still alive...lots and lots of Sungolds out there to get picked.

yup, I heard today that it is close to 50 now. They said many of the victims were found in homes with internal temperatures of 112 degrees and they are now setting up cooling facilities for people in some areas.
By the way, is that avatar one of your pups?

Toll is now 90 and still climbing...and thousands of cows have died at the dairies in the Central Valley. I'm hoping the triple digit temps are falling, especially up there.

He looks like he would be a lot of fun to roll around on the carpet and watch him run.
Anyway, it has been a little cooler and certainly in the East Bay, it has been much nicer, nights are down in the 50's again in my area. Valley is warm, but, we are all used to 90's.

It's hit out East now (the heat that is) -
I made sure all potted toms were watered, and a light watering in the garden. Its supposed to be 100+ today ~ Tom

It's been a sultry night here. At Midnight it was still
83 degrees with a dew point of 78. Now it's getting misty out there. Should be a lovely day tomorrow. We will see....JJ61 |

Misrable again here too....excessive heat warnings the last 3 days...today's supposed to be worse. It's not as bad as you folks in CA, but 106 is warm enough for me...don't care to see what happens at higher temps...electric bill is 246.00 this month...yaaak! (and yes, it was checked and serviced in April)
Got tons of tomatoes, but everything seems to have good foliage cover at the moment...got a few cucumber beetles and some striped army bugs that have arrived seemingly overnight...I must deal with them pronto...other than that, I'll check my straw and make sure the ground has enough moisture...and probably at least water my pumpkins...they tend to wilt so regardless. An assisted living apartment complex nearby had the ac go out...they packed everyone up and took them to the hotel/convention center...everyone got a hotel room and the apartment owners feed them in the hotel dining room...they're working on the air...but said that it will take days for the building to cool off once it's fixed. |

Aw heck Tom I left my attic fan on for two weeks and had it blowing to the northeast.
(((CLICK,))) there that should do it, it should start cooling off for you now. To the rest of you all welcome to Texas weather. 8) Werth |
