Thanks Ginger.
I actually saw the plant when I went to visit Moray-eel-bite's garden to do a swap. What a garden!! I felt like a kid in a candy store!! I would have taken some pics but I was busy drooling over his tomato plants! Great garden and really nice fellow tomatovillian! Pete

Never said it was or might be FTD, just said it reminded me of it--at least the ones I grew for the project. I haven't grown any of the final release FTD so can't say how it compares to the final release. |

It's a really great tomato. Beautiful and delicious, large and super productive and did I mention beautiful AND delicious? I don't like the name either because every time a neighbor stops by to ask about it and I tell them the name, they look at me kind of funny... lol. I don't let them taste it though, they can have the other tomatoes but not Girl Girl. If they tasted it they wouldn't care about the name... but... it's mine, all mine!.. :-)

Hey this is my tomato!!!
My dog whose namesake thses tomatoes carry has since passed, so pm me for seeds, i want to give out as many as ican. These suckers are tough too. I was working 6 10 hr days a week with a 2 hour commute, didnt get around to transplanting all my sad, rootbound leggy plants till freakin memorial day, and these bounced back best and went on to be productive despite drought and chicken attacks. Theyre just as funny lookin and tough as the original girl girl. Fragile specialty heirloom this is not! So long story short FREE SEEDS! |

My condolences. From the description, Girl Girl was a smart pooch. It's cute that she was the one who found the tomato in your patch of green zebras.

Jessica,
I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful dog; she looks like she was a real sweetie! I remember several years ago when you first offered your tomato. I think I was new to forums at that time and a little bashful--I really missed a good opportunity! Your tomato seems extremely popular, people who grow it rave about it. I'll be growing it this coming season. I'm really happy to see you posting here and I hope you enjoy the forum. You'll have to check out all the grow lists on which your tomato appears. Darlne |
