Something caught my eye today, part of a bean plant is albino and part is variegated and part is normal. Never have seen this before.
A couple notes from around the garden today, first cucumber flowers are opening and first female zucchini opened. Squash plants are a few days from flowering. Found a couple SVB eggs on zucchini and pumpkins—so be warned Wisconsin growers! |

That bean plant is lovely. I wonder if you save seed from the variegated portion if the seeds will produce more variegated plants?

If it produces seed I may try. I can't remember what I planted there--either Dragon Tongue (that's my guess) or Blue Lake 274 Bush Beans. The beans on the plant will tell me.

Got a big surprise tonight! My first ripe tomato (aside from the January started microdwarfs)!
It is part of the Teensy dwarf project, an F3 pink cherry. I sowed all dwarf tomato seeds on March 21--so ripe on June 27 is 98 days from seed and 43 days from transplant (May 15)!! |

Maybe not a garden pic, but this is my homebrewed Steamin Hot Pilsner. A Pre-Prohibition American Lager. How beer was made in the US before prohibition watered it down and made hops an afterthought. Delicious and perfect for our heatwave.

If there's one thing that makes home brewing worthwhile, it's the freedom to add more hops! I do love me a truly hoppy beer.

The old standby is the first indeterminate to blush! Even if it was a month later I’d still grow it every year. Sungold F1! First blush was 6/30, picture is from tonight 7/1.

We enjoyed our first Sungold F1 yesterday! Today I find my Crnkovic Yugoslavian x Jaune Flammee, the pollen donor Jaune Flamme, dwarf Metallica and Maglia Rosa all blushing!

It's so ugly that it's almost come back full circle to being pretty again!
