Did ya have 'em in a hot house? Also, how is C-TEX doing for you. I've see those plants around but just didnt get any for this year and been wanting to try some. I did not buy or trade any this year since I started so late so I planted seeds that I had saved previous. One that has taken off this year is solar and I hope it does good.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes I started the seeds December 26th and replanted into 1 gallon nursery pots. The first week of February, they were again transferred into the 5 gallon (two plants per bag) grow bags. All have been in the greenhouse until moved outside a week ago.
The C-tex is doing fine, but I am not sure how it will handle the heat and humidity. Having started early may make a big difference with the some of the heirlooms. Karpes |

Karpes, nice, very nice. I'm very interested on how the Magyar Piros Boker is doing. You are going to be the first one on that side of the pond to grow and harvest tomatoes from that variety. Ami

Wish mine looked like that. Even the ones I planted in February are lagging. The 4 days of cold and rain really slowed things down. I should have done hoop covers or something.

Yep, mine too. I'm just glad the freeze didnt kill. My maters will catch up soon with all this sun.

I just visit WU every day. I go to a link I saved that goes straight to my ZIP code.
The first thing you notice is that the High and Low temperatures on the 5 day forecast on the right reflect the ACTUAL high and low temps. Nothing drives me crazier than a TV Newcast that lists highs and lows and they are figuring that the low for a day is the lowest temperature at midnight, NOT the coldest temperature reached overnight. Usually it's coldest just before dawn. Then you can click "Hourly" links under one of the days to see exactly what time during the night the cold temperatures will strike. If you are going into an evening with mid-40's at 9pm, then 38 at midnight, 36 at 3am, and 34 at 6am, you are less likely to have a killing frost than if you go into an evening with 36 at midnight, 35 at 3am, and 34 at 6am. That prolonged cold is really bad. You might prefer Weather Underground Lite. It cuts out almost all the extraneous information and just gives the 5 day forecast and current conditions. You can still view hourly weather by clicking "See more Details" under each day. If you use a browser like Firefox or a browser that will accept RSS feeds, then once you navigate to your region of the country (type in your ZIP code), you can click the orange RSS button to add an RSS notification to your web browser. Then you will get headlines like frost and high wind and thunderstorm advisories without even having to visit WU. If you Sign Up for an account at the top of the page, then it looks like you can receive e-mail notifications. And you can get those notifications banner ad-free if you subscribe for $10 a year.

Here they are at the 35 day mark, still looking good with the exception of the two that have a problem. Hoping they are still around for the next picture but somehow I doubt it.
Trying to remain optimistic however. Main bed small bed, you can see Goose Creek in the back ground new bed

Well, Hege German Pink and Stump of the World are gone due to the possible virus. The rest of the plants look pretty good (crossing fingers). Purple Haze looks like it will be a monster plant and already has cherry size fruit on it. And although I planted a week earlier than in the past 3 seasons, my plants are still a little behind where they were in 2007. The reason? Rain, or lack of it I believe.
Purple Haze
