Mischka
Craig, Thanks for sharing the news that Mischka is back home where he can get the love and attention he deserves. We are blessed in so many ways with our family pets.

You have been in my thoughts and prayers since learning of Mischka's misfortune. I pray that the time you have may be meaningful for both of you.

Oh, I'm so sorry. These dogs and cats are so easy to love and so hard to let go of. I hope your last weeks with M are happy ones.

i'm glad he's home. hopefully he will rally and show us all that no vet or doctor has a crystal ball. i learned that with my gal, xena. the vet gave her ten months....and we got another 3 years and 2 months.

I hope MIschka is still enjoying his life with you.
We had a cat who got sick, the vet gave her a week, she got better and lived more than a year. We also had dobermans who showed no signs of being sick until 10-14 days before they died (probably cancer, both times). Last edited by habitat_gardener; February 16, 2010 at 03:27 PM. Reason: clarity |

You just take every day you're given as a blessing. My Abigail has an enlarged heart. She's on medication and I try and keep her from being too active; but there is no cure. I'll take all the time I can have with her, though.

I know someday our dogs will fall into the same conditions as Mischka now suffers. I dread that day and wish nothing but peace for Mischka and his master. May there be a warm, green field for all old dogs to romp in for eternity.

If dogs go to heaven, surely my Elsa is there. I got her when I was 6 and had her till I was 19. Best dog I've ever seen personally, but I've heard of others in her category, I really believe though, dogs like that are 1 in 1000.
She would wait every day for my bus to come, and would follow me everywhere. She could go from our yard, to my grandmothers, and on to my great grandmothers, but she never left those three yards, and never went on the road. She was my best friend. She was kidnapped once, found. Then she started to fail. Arthritis set in, trouble holdinig her pee, went deaf, eyesight started failling. Guess it was a blessing when cancer took her at 13. She was a yellow lab. I insisted on making a coffin, and she was a big dog, so it was big coffin. I woodburned her name in it. My grandfather, father and I burried her in the middle of winter in the middle of the woods with shovels and pick axes. Took the whole day. Whenever I go home to NY I go there in the woods. Trilliums, dog toothed violets and other wildflowers grow there. I'll always miss her, and I believe she's up there somewhere still waiting for me. |
