Carol - I'm just seeing your message. Really? You think I should go for it? I'm kinda, sorta excited at the prospect. I'm so weird. I think I must really like tilling and digging and crap like that. Cuz that's what I'd have to do. This area around the base of my deck is currently grass (or weeds). I'd have to deal with all sortsa issues I'm not having to deal with on my deck: deer, rabbits and other critters, more buggies down there, obviously harder to get to than walking out onto my deck. But, DH thinks I should just plant them out there and see what happens. Of course, he's not offering to do the work!

Hmmm...hmmmm.....babice has some planning to do for the weekend....

Today it's foggy and cool again, so I'll be in the garden all day. I started work on the hoop house yesterday, and hope to have it done on the weekend with help from my neighbors putting up the cattle panels and plastic. I'm building four long beds 12" high on the inside to hold the panels up higher, so I have more space underneath. Pictures to follow soon, I hope!

Yes, it's the first time "that it was so hot" that my water hoses cracked in many places. They run over 400 feet to all the different Heirloom Beds, and Heirloom Tomatoes nurseries all over the property. . . I guess the hot sun dried out the plastic in many area.

When I run out to water all the plants. water went everywhere up in the air. My grand child just loved that water spraying every where.

Sometimes when things go wrong, it good to relax, leave it in God's hands and joke about it.

It were to hot for me to fix it, so I just waited for the rain. The rain came yesterday. All heirloom vegetables and fruits are doing fine. .

Gottcha! It's a perfect toy for the grandkids now.

Electrician's tape works pretty well for me if I apply it when the hose is dry. Lots cheaper than replacing all that hose!

Love the humor.
I thought it was so hot Mayor Bloomberg dropped his dectate against 16 oz drinks but suggested folks skip the 16 oz drinks and order 20 oz instead.

Mrsjustice,

I've never been able to get electricians tape to stay on very long. I buy the little bottles of urethane Gorilla Glue. Don't use the super glue by the same name. The urethane glue cures in the presence of moisture. It first swells up and plugs the hole/holes and then hardens. Use a small stick to smear a single drop over a hole trying to force some into the hole. Don't use your finger to smear it because it takes a month for it to wear off your finger. Use a magic marker to circle the hole while it is leaking. Turn the water off and allow all water on the outside of the hose to dry. Locate the spots you identified with the marker and plug the holes. Allow the glue foam to expand and dry for about one hour before you turn the water on. Thats how I repair my soaker hoses also when they get a hole allowing excess water into my beds.

Ted
