It's 87 degrees and 65% humidity right now, with a heat index of 105-109 degrees again. Slight chance of rain today but not promised.

I was out early am to water and took out another tomato plant, this time a Roma. That leaves one Roma and the Homestead to come out. It's way to hot to keep going out there. So water, cut down, and run inside because the sweat is already dripping off, lol. No way am I doing more than that out there. Oh wait, I also trimmed the watermelon plant.

Yesterday, it only got up to 91 here. It rained from DFW and north of there. It sprinkled here for a few minutes, but the 9 degrees less heat was noticeable. Now, back to the 100s.

We are into mid 90s. The forecast (92F for high ) is much lower than where we are. Their weather station must be some place with cooler temperatures than ours.

1184 would be the correct number, lol. Think I'll leave it just to confuse others.

LOL, I did live in an RV for 7 years, we traveled a little but I don't think I could go below the 39 footer we were in, lol. That drove me crazy. Should have seen me trying to garden then.

Oh, and I pay 1/2 the electric bill in this house than we did in the RV, the park charges a lot more per KWH.

Only at 98 today, so a bit cooler, but I still am doing the hide inside thing for the most part. Did the grocery cart thing this morning, but it's really a good air conditioned bus and they wait on us with it running!!! Sooooo nice.

The rest of the week is predicted to be at or over 100, sigh, but drier. No wonder the leaves on my tomato plants are curled up!

Overnight the temperature dropped to 75 degrees with lower humidity and a breeze. It feels WONDERFUL. I am going to celebrate and go outside and pull weeds after dinner. My garden has never looked so weedy but I just can't handle working in that "Texas type" heat and humidity!

Well we finally got something more than showers... steady rain since late morning. And it really cooled off too!
Happened to be the day we planned to do some serious weeding at the farm. Brought my rain clothes... but they were no good. I got completely soakered under this raincoat. I was soaked to the skin for hours! We had a good time all the same, great company. But very chilly at the end. When I finally stripped the slicker off to go home, every stitch of clothes was wet through even my socks, the water must have seeped down into my boots from the jeans that were so saturated. First time I felt really chilly in a while!!
It was 51 F when I got home, still raining and will drop below the magic 50 F tonight for our tomatoes, but no worries, they'll be fine.

Ah, it's a service by the city bus line. If you are a senior ( over 62)or disabled, it's $2.00 for a once a week bus ride and from a Wal-Mart on a day that you are in that zone. It's really nice, plus they carry your groceries to your front door for you. The drops us off, we all go and shop for at least an hour, then the bus is there waiting on us, with either air conditioning going really good or heat in the winter.

It's also a bit of a social thing, every one chats. They pick you up at your door and back to your door, so it's nice; called 'The Grocery Cart".

Very nice in the hot weather to come out and the vehicle is almost chilly, LOL, and no hunting a parking place.

Well, I broke my own rule, went out and watered and did some weeding even though we are still in the 90's. I did feel slightly virtuous afterwards, though slightly sick to my tummy from the heat.

Oh, that's really neat imp. Stay safe out there in the heat, stop breaking your rules, lol. I know how hard it is not to break the rules though.

Well, I was just standing there moving the hose every so often and looking at those darn weeds....then I was pulling them up by the roots.

We all know it's hard to just stand there. LOL.

I need to figure out the irrigation thing really badly.

you can also use a hoe or a knife to cut the roots of the weeds , several inched below the surface. If they are not growing next to the plants I wouldn't care. Let them be.
