Stepped outside to go to work this morning (4:30a) and it's raining. Just a steady light rain.

Jillian, this break is certainly a welcome break. Our extended forecast shows highs in the 80's for gen ex 10 days. Maybe it will stick for the month of August. I hope.

I drove through an area that was 66 degrees this morning.
Well below the average temperature of the drive to work.

Just went outside to the garden to take a peak around. It's 97 degrees and 57% humidity. It isn't so hot to just take a quick walk out there but I couldn't stay out there. It's much better than if the humidity were extremely high also. Then I check my email and this warning came in around 2:08 pm today.

It's hot with the heat index around 108 here. I'm watching thunderstorms building to our north and west. It might be stormy tonight. 90% chance.

I had some rain a couple days ago and it wasn't enough to skip watering. It came down really hard for a few minutes though.

August is the driest month of the year for us, but it sure looked like it was gong to rain. I thought I heard rain, but when I went outside, it was just wind and dried-up oak leaves falling on the roof.

Same over here.
Finally this afternoon we had some some showers. But didn't last very long. Maybe we got 1/4". Good for the grass that is all.
More PM TS are in the forecast with 40 to 50% chance. I won't bet on it.

Temperature wise, August has been not as hot as late July, so far. Highs are mostly under 90F, with fairly low RH. So some of my tomatoes are still setting. Peppers are doing great. I keep picking half a bucket at a time, drying and freezing.
All in all, my first season down here is not bad at all. High heat is compensated with high production of just about anything I have been growing in mostly sandy soil.
