To my surprise it was a 2X6 alright but it was not wood, it was a solid ingot of lead.
The thing must have weighed 300 pounds if not more.

Wanted to share a picture of the moon I took Friday night while practicing for the eclipse, but it doesn't belong in the eclipse thread since it's just the plain old moon (not even full at that). I rented a big long lens for the weekend and played around with it Friday night to see what I could get. Here's what I got:

Thanks guys! I doubt any of my shots from last night are as clear (darn clouds) but here's hoping! Can't wait to get home and go through them.

I've no doubt you'll find more than a few that are worthy.

It's not that big actually. Maybe 6" across. I can't rember the name off hand but came from an order with Baker Creek

They can cost several hundred dollars and that looks to be in good shape.

The wife loves to quilt, so I normally have my eye out for material, etc for her while out and about. This one was just to unique to pass up at a price that couldn't be passed up either. The only issues with it are two mouse chewed places that are repairable.

We thought it was a pinwheel pattern also, but the pattern is very asymmetrical, as if someone who didn't know what they were doing tried to piece it together. The workmanship kinda flies in the face of that thought though, as it is very well constructed and the consistency of the pattern shows planning.

When I see the hours and days of time that's put into the making of one, I cannot see how someone can just throw them away either.
