Oh shoot, Rockporter! Hope you're safe!
We're in another mini-heatwave (for us) and yesterday was the second hottest day of the year. All forecast to change Monday with a much cooler and less tomato friendly regime (aka normal).
So far no hurricanes coming our neck of the woods.

Stay safe Rockporter.

I had to go out in my underwear no shirt and barefoot to haul everything out of the back of my truck.
Including several thousand foot of wire on spools and in boxes.
There is no way I could afford to let it go swimming.
Worked up an appetite and all the fried chicken joints are closed.

It's not looking too good out there. The models of direction keep changing back and forth. It's amazing they are lighting up the entire Texas Gulf Coast to be affected in one way or the other by this storm.

All the windows are covered, the door covers are made and ready to be put up when needed, and still not one of my neighbors has anything on their windows. Such strange behavior to me. I did see one house with some sandbags at the front door.

I hope anyone affected by this storm is in a safe place.

At least you put on clothes.

I once was in a wedding where I had to wear a rented suit. As soon as the wedding was over, I changed into my bikini looking swim suit and walked out of the church that way. The groom was smiling and slapped me a high five as I passed by.

I saw the weather tonight - they're saying there's going to be a lot of rain for those just north of Austin down to the coast. Around 10+ inches of rain. The storm is moving at only 2 miles per hour - if it keeps that up, there will be major flooding this weekend.

Okay, now it's a Hurricane 1-2 warning, phones were going off like crazy five minutes ago. They just added a flash flood watch to the list as well.

I'm shutting the computer down, there is still so much to do and we might be evacuating to the Austin area.
trucks are full of gas except for what my husband will use for today. He did take tomorrow off. Who knows, his work may tell everyone to go home and get out. They do that alot, I can't imagine they won't do it now. We have the cash needed and I have food figured out. Just going to pack all other necessities and try to get more things tied down in the garden this morning.

Be safe Texas.

Good luck to you and everyone in the path. I hope (wishfully) that everybody there has at least some of your wisdom to prepare.

I hope we get some rain out of it at least.
Two huge old red oak varieties have died up the street due to oak wilt this year.
I just noticed one more yesterday.
