Would you recommend growing these in pots since they're so small? Any advice is welcome -- I sure don't want to blow it.

Owiebrian, I would say a 5gal pot is enough or a wider pot like a squat pot style.

Right now I have more potatoes than space to fit them.

Finally last week I harvested Richard's mystery selection. The plant died later than Moie-Moie. I got 4 small potatoes, the apical end is white. Does that seem right Richard? I still have to take pictures of it is now into cold storage because of the dormancy. I have lot's to clean in the garden area to make room for more potatoes I am doing an early planting of potatoes and a late planting a month behind for "storage" and the maori spuds are going in the late planting. Should work fine.

Yes they tend to have done that in the past Wendy,what i will do when i dug the mystery row in the day or so is to keep all the potatoes from each plant in its own pile then when thats done i'll select for the next years planting by cutting a few from each pile to make sure that that plant has solid purple right through,i did this last season as well so i'm looking forward to seeing if there's going to be any white patches in any this year.

Nice spuds! What size of container did you use? I am ordering some TPS from Tom, but it will probably be too late to plant to get full size tubers. I was thinking of planting some of the TPS to see if I could get golf ball size tubers to plant next Spring. I was thinking of using a 2 - 3 gallon bucket. Will this be large enough to get golf size tubers?

From my last year experience a 2 gal pot was enough to get few tubers, most of my 5gal pots gave me some 2in tubers obviosly depending on the variety some were 1in tubers.

So what's the plan now Wendy,will they be put in the cooler for a while and then try and get another crop before winter.

That's the idea. If I plant them late May I hope by November to have a crop. I am putting one of each Moie-Moie and your Mystery selection in pots in case they are late I can bring indoors if I get danger of frost. All the Mystery TPS segregates are going next to them as the Maori bed/patch.

Wendy, I am still waiting for my stubborn spud to break dormancy. I do not want to plant it until I know it is ready to grow. I have it outdoors in a pot of moist soil. I will post something as soon as the little fella' puts of a sprout or chit of any kind.

Most everything You sent me is sprouted and in the garden...except moui-moui! It will be breaking dormancy soon I am sure.
