Cuostralee Leaf Curl
I have seen several postings on leaf curl and most responders claim that there is nothing to worry about and that the plant will grow out of it. My Cuostralee plant seems to be getting worse rather than better. Any thoughts? Advice?

Have you had any heavy rains or periods of dryness? A bit of a heat wave? Any chance the roots have been damaged?
I know that some varieties of tomato are more prone to physiological leaf curl than others; but I've never grown Cuostralee, so I don't if it is one of them. |

There's a difference between leaf curl and leaf roll. The former has all sorts of reasons why it happens as in too hot, too cool, too dry, too wet, you get the picture.
But Leaf Roll is a physiological problem that shows up early in the season when root and above ground vegetative growthe is out of balance. Not a problem b'c it disappears as the plants mature. Usually the leaves with Leaf Roll are more tightly curled than with Leaf Curl, so much so that one needs to also consider aphids as a possible cause.

Carolyn,
Can you tell from the picture if it is leaf curl or leaf roll? Pat |

It looks more like leaf curl than leaf roll to me b'c with the latter one usually sees a tight tube-like structure.

I'm in Prior Lake, probably just south of you, and am seeing the same leaf rolling - but only on a few varieties. With the wierd weather we've had this spring perhaps some varieties are reacting with this stress phenotype, and others not.

I am suffering this bad on my mature plants in my SWC now.
I thought it would grow out of it, but it has got worse. To the point it has effected the fruit on one plant. After reading this, i see there is Leaf Roll and Leaf Curl, well i'd have to gues i have Leaf Roll, as they are crispy and fully rolled. |
